Though all browsers are different, a JavaScript enable option is usually present in either the security or content areas of the browser's tools menu. We have provided below specific instructions for four industry-standard browsers: Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari, and Netscape.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.x, 6.x, and 5.x

  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
    With IE 8 the Tools menu is on the far right side just above the web page content.
  • In Internet Options dialog box select the Security tab.
  • Click Custom level button at bottom right. The Security settings dialog box will pop up.
  • Under Scripting category check the Active Scripting radio box.
  • Click OK twice to close out.
  • Hit your F5 function key on your keyboard to refresh.

FireFox 3.x, 2.x, 1.5

  • Open FireFox.
  • Select Options from the Tools menu bar.
  • Select the Content tab.
  • Select the Enable JavaScript checkbox.
  • Click the OK button to save settings.
  • Hit your F5 function key on your keyboard to refresh.

Older versions of FireFox

  • Open FireFox.
  • Select Options from the Tools menu bar.
  • Select the Web features tab.
  • Select the Enable JavaScript checkbox.
  • Click the OK button to save settings.
  • Hit your F5 function key on your keyboard to refresh.

Safari

  • Open Safari.
  • Select Edit from the Safari menu at the top of the browser, 
    then select Preferences.
  • The Security options window will open.
    • Check both Enable Java and Enable Javascript.
  • Close the Security options window.
  • Hit your F5 function key on your keyboard to refresh.

Netscape 7.x

  • From the browser's Edit menu select "Preferences..."
  • Within the Category pick list, double click the word Advanced.
  • Click Scripts & Plugins
  • Check the box labeled Enable JavaScript for Navigator and push the OK button to close the Preferences dialog box.
  • Close and re-open the browser.

Netscape 6.x

  • From the browser's Edit menu select "Preferences..."
  • Within the Category pick list, select the word Advanced.
  • Check the box labeled Enable JavaScript for Navigator and push the OK button to close the Preferences dialog box.
  • Close and re-open the browser.
